Honokaa: The Big Island

What's up everybody?! I'm here on the big island now! I'm on the Kona side in a town called Honokaa. It's kinda out in the boonies, but so far I've enjoyed it! My companion is a 113 pound half japanese fellow by the name of Elder Clark. He returns home to Dallas Fort Worth Texas in approximately 4 weeks. In the meantime we will be working together to bring souls unto Christ.

I'm actually here at the Kona stake center right now and earlier I looked over and realized the temple was right next door! My eyes nearly popped out of their sockets and I immediately took some pictures which I will attach. If you're unfamiliar with temples, its where we can be sealed to our families for all time and eternity in comparison to a non-temple marriage which will end at death.

Not much else to report. I've just gotten used to everything we do as missionaries. As "greenies," everything you do is new and exciting so then you have to write about everything in your weekly email haha. I'm always on the look out for cute dogs that I can pet. Luckily our landlord/next door neighbor/2nd counselor in the stake presidency found a stray dog and has adopted it for the time being and its really cute. Then we helped a family move their chicken coop the other day and they had the CUTEST puppy. I will attach a picture.

My brothers and sisters, life isn't meant to be easy. God will always try and test our faith with unfamiliar or uncomfortable circumstances. I stumbled upon these verses in Mosiah 23.

21 "Nevertheless the Lord seeth fit to chasten his people; yea, he trieth their patience and their faith."
22 "Nevertheless—whosoever putteth his trust in him the same shall be lifted up at the last day."

I really really appreciate all the prayers and fasting in my behalf this past week. Ihelped. It really did. Sorry if this email was boring! and also sorry I have like 0 pictures from this new area!

Ringing in the New Year in Hawaii!

I genuinely don't know what to write, so here's some pictures instead:

Having lived half of his young life in Fort Worth, Texas, this speaks to him (mom comment). He did sing "deep in the heart of Texas" with gusto every year at his school and memorized the Texas pledge, which is said right after the Pledge of Allegiance in all Texas schools. ;)

This is my (his mom's) favorite ever!!!
Lucky missionary!

PART 2: if any pictures don't come thru from either this email or PART 1, let me know. i have absolutely horrendous cell service at my pad. I've been here in Wahiawa with Elder Gordon for 3 months now. we have transfers in a week and we'll see what happens!

gettin' people fired up!

Teddy B watched the BYU Bowl game vs a southern team.
Some guy on the other team (full of players and fans with mullets) hustled up and had these 'unofficial game shirts' made and sold them like wildfire.
Our family has 2 mullet wigs (from the Manchester NH Monarchs ice hockey team game that Maddie and Ted went to back in 2005). We have a thing for mullets.
