Aight: first off my email list is a mess. There's so many people missing and also so many missionaries that have gone home, but their missionary emails are still on my list. What can i say? Being popular is hard. hahahah - jokes that was incredibly prideful and unnecessary.
Last p day we had a super fun zone BBQ for all the missionaries going home! It was super awesome and then after we played some 5 on 5 ultimate frisbee in a massive field at the church and it was a blast.
So many of you saw (on Facebook), but on Tuesday morning on a long drive I got a bit drowsy and drove off the road, heard a loud thud, regained control of the car and pulled over. Miraculously, and by the grace of God, my companion and I were fine and our car was not damaged at all, other than a punctured tire. Some other Elders came and helped us put on the spare and all was well. But honestly, like anything could have happened. We could have died or been badly injured, but God protected us! Blessings on blessings on blessings or as the Hawaiians say, "yessah, blessah, nevah stressah!"
On Friday I went to a neighboring area for the day called Kohala. It just so happened to be one of Zach Izatt's (Herriman & ward buddy) former areas and the member family we had dinner with totally remembered him and we had a good laugh about that! Elder Izatt is a legend in the Hawaii Honolulu Mission!
This morning we went down Waipio valley with a family in our ward that we have weekly dinners with. It's beautiful. Google it! Makes me wanna come back and do the surrounding hikes. It was so chill down there though & really green and not many houses. I will include some pictures. Iwill also include some pictures from last Sunday's dinner appointment with Papa Willy and his wife Ronny. Let's just say Papa Willy really likes guns
Oh also this is the start of a new transfer! I will be training a new missionary again! His name is Elder Thompson and I will meet him tomorrow night and from there we will do absolutely everything in our power to find, teach, and baptize here in Honokaa.
Rex D Pinegar said, "There is only one way for men to gain a celestial inheritance of eternal glory, and that is to forsake the world, have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, enter his kingdom through the door of baptism, receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, and then keep his commandments."
I testify of the importance of forsaking the world. There are so many distractions and temptations, so many things that just aren't relevant or helpful to our quest of returning to live with God! Each of us should have our focus firmly on Jesus Christ and becoming like Him. Don't corrupt your spirit and your mind with worldliness. I've said it once and I'll say it again: social media has a negative impact on mental health and self image. Life isn't about tiktok, video games, or any of that stuff. I promise you as an official representative of Jesus Christ that if you will spend less time engaging in worldly affairs and more time drawing nearer to God and Jesus Christ thru prayer, repentance, study, etc., you will find true happiness and joy.
